Nick Lawrence, MA

Founder & CEO, Tools for life, inc.

Nick Lawrence, MA, is the Founder and Director of Tools for Life, Incorporated, a nonprofit organization he created to help people move from surviving to thriving through nervous system awareness. Inspired by his own journey through early childhood trauma and years of chronic stress, Nick developed practical, neuroscience‑based tools that translate complex regulation science into everyday skills anyone can use.

The mission of Tools for Life is to help individuals, families, and institutions create environments where safety, connection, and resilience happen.

Nick is an educator, researcher, and author of From Surviving to Thriving: Reversing Trauma Through Nervous System Awareness. He has taught in community colleges and worked extensively with caregivers, foster and adoptive families, and professionals supporting trauma‑impacted individuals.
Nick believes that most breakdowns in learning and relationships are not personality flaws or failures of character, but signs of nervous systems under strain. His work is driven by a simple vision: when people learn to regulate themselves, they rediscover their capacity to connect, succeed, and truly thrive.

Nick's Vision For Tools For Life

“Everyone has life challenges — but connection, to Self and others,  is our path to joy.” Nick’s vision is to foster a world where people connect deeply to their Life Force, to themselves, and to their people. He believes this threefold connection creates resilient educators, families and individuals that thrive in every season of life.

Brady Reed

Outreach Consultant for

Community Colleges

Hello!
I’m Brady Reed, Outreach Consultant for Community Colleges at Tools for Life. I partner with colleges to bring the Green Zone Framework — a neuroscience‑based student success model — to campuses seeking to improve retention, foster wellness, and close equity gaps.

I have more than 25 years of experience in Student Services, primarily leading programs that support historically marginalized populations. In my role as Dean of Student Equity and Special Programs at Lassen

College, I collaborated with Nick to implement the Green Zone approach across staff and disproportionately impacted student groups. The results were transformational — our students and teams experienced measurable growth in connection, wellbeing, and academic engagement.

I genuinely believe in this framework as a catalyst for equity and lasting student success.

I look forward to connecting with you!
